Seb Zel is a Brooklyn-based composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and audio engineer who crafts immersive audio experiences by bringing a refined classical background and conceptual approach to the contemporary studio space.
His compositions have been featured in albums of various genres, award-winning independent films such as Playing Sam, the HBO short film, La Piel de Ayer, and campaigns from well known brands such as Timberland, Puma, and Office. His innovative work has earned him numerous accolades including the Best Original Soundtrack Undergrad Category award for Knightman’s original film score and the (fully funded residency)his artist residency at _____ in New Hampshire.
Zel has recently toured around the US as the guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist in Zinadelphia and is one half of Dreamphone, an indie-alternative duo where he explores sonic landscapes that merge electronic precision with organic warmth. He currently works as a staff composer at the CornerStore and accompanist for ballet classes with the Misty Copeland Foundation. Zel also takes on independent projects in his studio space in Brooklyn, NY.
Born and raised in Miami Beach, Zel holds a bachelor’s degree from NYU Steinhardt in Music Composition & Theory, where he predominantly studied classical composition with Ezequiel Viñao, with additional studies in classical guitar with Pedro Da Silva, and in jazz bass with Ron McClure.
